Lead and manage a team of school marshals, providing ongoing training, guidance, and supervision. Provide day-to-day armed security presence at assigned Frisco ISD elementary campuses, serving in marshal backfill role when required due to personnel absences. Protect students, staff, and visitors in the event of an active threat incident. Remain alert and provide first-line response to active threats and related emergency situations.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license
Possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry (LTC) or ability to possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry (LTC) within sixty days of hire
Ability to successfully complete Texas School Marshal course offered by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
Ability to obtain and maintain L-3 psychological clearance within thirty days of hire
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proven ability to effectively lead and manage a team commissioned peace officers
Knowledge of school safety, armed school security regulations, TCOLE-based law enforcement procedures, practices, and related standards and codes
Ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations
Knowledge of emergency management operations planning
Knowledge of safe handling and secure storage practices of firearms
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports
Strong interpersonal and public relations skills
Proficient in providing trainings and presentations
Ability to use relevant security-related technology (e.g. security video systems, incident reporting systems, etc.)
Basic computer skills
Experience:
Experience in supervising, managing, or providing leadership to groups of commissioned peace officers
Commissioned peace officer experience (5 years preferred)
Honorably retired commissioned peace officer preferred
Respond to and immediately address any active threat incident on campus.
Patrol assigned campus(es) and be visible throughout the day, especially during passing periods, lunch periods, student drop-off, and student pick-up.
Be visible during student drop-off, student pick-up, and outdoor campus activities.
Conduct frequent exterior door sweeps to ensure all doors are closed, locked, latched and otherwise functioning properly.
Work closely with campus staff and other district personnel to promote a safe and secure environment.
Demonstrate and maintain firearms proficiency via range qualifications, as determined by the District and TCOLE.
Maintain awareness of district policies and procedures relating to safety, and security, emergency management functions.
Complete incident reports and other documents as required or directed in an accurate and timely manner.
Attend and/or conduct trainings for school marshal personnel, as required.
Supervisory Duties:
Lead, supervise, and evaluate assigned school marshal staff, providing guidance and feedback.
Conduct and document required written observations and performance evaluations.
Oversee the inventory, maintenance, and standardization of school marshal equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Provide campus coverage as needed by backfilling for absent campus marshals and coordinate staffing assignments accordingly.
