Dispatch communications with school bus drivers and buses. Provide phone support for incoming/outgoing calls regarding buses and campuses, parents, District staff, and the community. Assist the Transportation Department in providing proper coverage of all routes, field trips, midday routes, and auxiliary routes/trips.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required
Some college preferred
Valid CDL with passenger, air brake, and safety endorsements (preferred)
20-hour TEA Safety certification class OR willingness to complete
First Aid and CPR certification class OR willingness to complete
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Able to pass annual DOT physical/drug testing
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills
Must be able to work split shift
Must be available to work Saturdays for field trip dispatch
Flexible and open to change
Ability to work together as a team with a spirit of cooperation
Capable of responding in emergency situations
Ability to drive or monitor a school bus
Ability to pass annual and random DOT (Department of Transportation) physical/drug testing
Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation
Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor
Ability to walk the equivalent of at least one mile daily
Ability to lift 30lbs and maneuver effectively in a school bus
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience driving a school bus preferred
Advise drivers on routes and schedule during route time or field trips.
Activate emergency call procedures.
Assign all substitute drivers and buses.
Keep a daily operation summary for the dispatch area.
Maintain log on all route-related incoming phone and radio calls.
Maintain radio contact in regard to route designations with route buses and relay pertinent information.
Provide drivers and staff directions regarding transportation of students in Frisco ISD.
Keep calm in a busy office environment and in the midst of emergency situations.
Drive or monitor a school bus when necessary.
Support field trip operations.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual sitting, reaching, kneeling, squatting and repetitive hand and arm motions. Prolonged use of computer. Intermittent walking the equivalent of at least one mile daily. Work outside and inside. Moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes. Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (up to 30 pounds). Work with frequent interruptions.
